Chambord, Chenonceau, Amboise, Blois, Cheverny (but there are about 30 others in the region) (12 hrs).

CATHEDRALS :
Chartres (50 miles) : masterpiece of gothic art, pilgrimage center, medieval town (5 hrs).
Mont Saint-Michel (200 miles) : pilgrimage center since the Middle Ages (14 hrs).

ART :
Auvers-sur-Oise (25 miles) : Van Gogh’s last residence (5 hrs).
Giverny (50 miles ): Monet’s house, village of the impressionists
(5 hrs).
Brugge, Belgium (200 miles) : magnificent little medieval town with canals. Numerous museums, flemish paintings (14 hrs).
